March 12, 1:30 AM, a little frost on the "Key Lime" and a road trip was in order. This road trip has the special purpose of delivering an Eastern 248 Tournament to it's owners which cordially allowed Gratitude Yachting Center the use of her for the Baltimore Boat Show. The boat was ordered with many extras from the factory with some being very custom and the first time such items had been installed on a Eastern 248. Some of these items included air conditioning, refrigerator under the helm which had not been done before. While at our facility we installed items such as radar/chart/GPS, microwave and a stereo that will rock the boat just to name a few. All of this took much pre-planning to assure that equipment would not interfere with the location and function of other items being installed.
This boat has been set to do double duty as the owners have many interests such as scuba diving and fishing. So, when choosing this boat they wanted to be able to use her for both diving and fishing as well as doing some cruising. To further add to they needs they live inland with several large lakes nearby but also spend much of their time at the shore so this boat also had to be easily trailered. All of this has been put into this great little (if I might add colorful) boat without much being noticeable to a passersby.
590 miles a few sodas and snacks, tank or two of gas and wala 70 degrees, a crystal clear sky and water to match and we have arrived at our destination. We are a few minutes early so we decided to launch the boat and have her ready for the new owners. Then a complete go through of the systems and quick spin out on the lake and back on the road.
Congratulations with many fun filled years to follow.
